Highlighted Internship
Peace Learning Center (PLC)– For students interested in passing along the art and skills of conflict resolution to others, the Peace Learning Center is the one-stop shop for conflict resolution education in Indianapolis. Interns are trained in curriculum developed by the center and assigned to a team of facilitators to implement it with children and youths. PLC’s Cultivating Healthy Organizations Project gives interns the chance to support improved dialogue among adults at a variety of organizations
Rebuilding the Wall (RTW) – Clare (Theology) came into her internship at RTW with a theoretical grounding in environmental justice and a lot of dreams about changing systems. Her experience at RTW gave her new tools and a new vocabulary. Phrases like “gentrification with justice” describe RTW’s unique approach to combating social injustice, revitalizing the Martindale-Brightwood community of Indianapolis and stabilizing families. Clare’s work as an intern has highlighted the connection between lingering environmental hazards and community development and built new partnerships through which RTW can address environmental injustice with the same practical approach they take towards ending socio-economic injustice.
