Alternative Fall + Spring Break
To provide college students with an opportunity to experience peacebuilding, the Institute, in partnership with various community organizations is presenting the following immersion opportunities. These week-long sessions will be held in Indianapolis. While in the city, participants will reside at the Peace House, which is located downtown.
Fall Break: October 19-25, 2008
Lives in Balance: Youth, Violence and the Role of Society
This seminar examines the world of youth impacted by violence, either as victims or as perpetrators, with a focus on Indiana. This seminar is the result of a partnership between the Center for Social Concerns: Notre Dame and the Institute. During the week of immersion in Indianapolis, participants will be visiting with various youth related organizations, government entities and officials and schools.

• The juvenile justice system,
• The education system,
• Illegal immigration, human trafficking and slavery,
• The role of irresponsible environmental practices on youth, and
• The impact of violence on the development of youth.
